Car Trade-In Advice from Hare Auto

March 5th, 2010

Getting a good value when trading in a used car or truck isn’t as mysterious as you might think. When you go to make the trade at the Indianapolis Chevy dealership, the car appraiser judges the trade-in vehicle in the same way Indianapolis Chevy shoppers judge potential purchases.

For example, the age, body style, and trim type are all factors that affect the value of your trade. Is the car a popular Chevy model? Is it a sports car? More pricey vehicles naturally bring more attention, but a practical Indianapolis Chevy in excellent condition is worth more to the average buyer than a battered BMW—the condition of the vehicle is crucial.

Don’t forget about the first impression factor either. Your Indianapolis Chevy dealer or appraiser will react the same as you—it’s easy to get a good first impression from a clean, sparkling vehicle. If you’re considering a trade, clean out your car and give it a good wash. You may be able to have minor cosmetic problems repaired inexpensively; it’s a good idea to replace broken interior or signal lights, cracked fixtures, etc. Make your used car trade-in as attractive as possible to get a better deal on your trade-in.

Indianapolis area Cobalt repair

March 4th, 2010

As you may have already heard GM announced a voluntary recall on certain Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models. The official announcement sent to dealerships is below.

General Motors communicated to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) yesterday that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall of 1.3 million compact cars to repair a motor in the power steering system. Vehicles affected are the 2005 – 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt; 2007 – 2010 Pontiac G5; 2005 – 2006 Pontiac Pursuit sold in Canada, and the 2005 – 2006 Pontiac G4 sold in Mexico.

Effective immediately, stop the delivery of all new and used models listed above that may be in dealership new or used vehicle inventory. These vehicles must be held and not delivered to customers or dealer traded until further notice.

The recall was voluntary and initiated by GM. The main purpose of the recall was to ease customers fears after the recent Toyota recalls. The issue is a minor one and has caused no deaths or major accidents. The below memo details the recall further.

Dear GM Dealer:

We want to clarify and expand on a few items surrounding the voluntary safety recall of the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G4, G5, and Pursuit models that was announced late Monday. First and foremost, owners and customers need to understand that even if power steering assist cuts out suddenly, these vehicles can be steered manually. The steering effort required could be greater below 15 miles per hour, but steering control is always possible. This condition typically presents itself in the 20,000-30,000 mile range.

We are conducting this recall out of concern for the customer’s peace of mind. While we have the same Electric Power Steering (EPS) system in the Chevrolet HHR and Saturn ION, these vehicles are not included in the recall because every vehicle has unique tuning, tires and chassis, which causes some vehicles to be more susceptible to this condition than others.

We are working with the steering system supplier on repair scenarios, which could include steering motor repair or replacement, or one of several possible remanufacturing strategies. We will share more, including when customers can expect notification, as soon as we have all the details worked out.

Anyone in need of car repairs in the Indianapolis area can contact the Hare service department at 888-826-7508. Even though Hare is the #1 Chevy dealer in Indianapolis we can service all makes. We can even perform warranty work on any make of vehicle also. Stay tuned to this blog our our Facebook and Twitter accounts for more information as it becomes available.

Before you read on please put your guns away. This  contest will be decided by shooting of a different kind; you must  capture rabbits with your camera.

Not only do you need to capture  rabbits with your camera (or camera phone) you must capture Hare  Chevrolet rabbits. Every time you post a picture or quick video of the  Hare name or logo (license plate, car decal, dealership sign, shirt,  cup) to the Facebook Fan Page, http://www.facebook.com/harechevrolet,  you gain one entry into the contest.

Lets say Twitter is your network of choice and you happen  to spot the Hare Chevrolet name or logo while driving around. Send a pic  to @harechevy, add the hashtag #haresxsw and  you get another entry. What if I use Facebook & Twitter you ask.  Multiple entries are allowed for the same pic on both networks.

By  this point you are probably asking a couple questions. This sounds  like a fun contest but what do we win? More on that later. What  is South by Southwest? More info on “The South” can be found at  their main site, http://www.sxsw.com What do rabbit  pictures have to do with South by Southwest? Technology is  constantly changing our lives everyday. Alot of this technology, such as  camera phones & social networks, was introduced at or was shaped by  people who attend the annual South by Southwest Interactive Festival.  We want our customers, fans or online contacts to use their technology  in entering this contest.

South by Southwest is the once a year  destination event of the social media generation. Chevrolet wanted to  take the idea of the classic American road trip and re-imagine it for  the current generation, hence the Chevy SXSW Road Trip Challenge was born. Teams from  across the nation will be given various challenges along their journey,  in Chevy cars, to Austin for SXSW. Hare Chevrolet has been chosen as a  stop for Team Lansing who is being captained by Betsy Weber. You can  follow along with Team Lansing while they are on their trip by going to  their Tumblr page, http://www.teamlansingsxsw.tumblr.com

While  in town Betsy and her team will be using GM On Star technology to navigate  around Noblesville. Once the team reaches their destination they will  draw a name of one of the “Shoot a Rabbit” entrants out of a top hat  (gotta keep the bunny theme going) The winner will be drawn late morning on March 9th during a live webcast. You can find the webcast by following this link next Tuesday, Hare SXSW Test Drive Contest. The winning entrant will receive a  test drive of either a Chevrolet  Camaro or Chevrolet  Equinox While you are test driving a beautiful new  Chevy we will scrub your current car to get all the dirt and grime from  the winter off of your ride. You never know we may offer more prizes so  stay tuned.

Multiple entries are allowed so show us your love  for your technology and Hare Chevrolet.

Employees and their  immediate family are welcome to participate but aren’t eligible to win  prizes. You need to be 25 years old or older and have a valid drivers  license to be eligible. The test drive will be for 2 days and cant  exceed 200 miles. Hare Chevrolet has discretion on which exact model can  be selected.

Gas Mileage Tips from Hare Auto

March 2nd, 2010

Once you start the search for a new or used Chevy, one area to give special attention to is the gas mileage of your existing vehicle compared to the Indianapolis Chevy you’re considering. Whether your travels frequently take you out of the Indianapolis area or you’re strictly a city driver, that gas mileage issue becomes a big part of preserving your bottom line. How much can you save over a year? Do some quick math to find out—how many miles do you drive per month? Multiply that number by the average gas price. Divide that number by the number of miles per gallon your current car gets and that’s how much you spend each month on gas.

Do the same math for your favorite Indianapolis Chevy car and compare the amounts. Will you save money with the new model? If not, keep looking at the dealership until you can find one that at least matches the MPG you currently get. Don’t forget that if you’re financing your new car, you’ll be required to carry full insurance on the vehicle—any savings you can get from better gas mileage, bigger down payments, and good trade-in value will help you in the long run. Your Chevy dealer in Indianapolis can show you a selection of models that get that mileage or better.

Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Indianapolis

March 1st, 2010

Atlanta, GA Customer Picks Hare Chevrolet

2010 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Z71 at Indianapolis Area Car Dealer turns into Ed Lake’s peach.

Chevy Silverado Indianapolis When trying to find a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab Z71, there are a lot of dealerships between Atlanta, GA and Noblesville, IN. One customer found the perfect fit at Indiana’s #1 new Chevy and used sales leader Hare Chevrolet. Here is his story.

I have given Hare Chevy a Great rating because they earned it!! My name is Ed Lake and I am 55 years young. When I turned 16 in 1970 my father helped me purchase my “first” car…a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Coupe. Since that time I have looked for that car and from time to time I look on Ebay to see if it’s listed. On the 1st of February, I typed in 1948 Chevy in the New Car column on Ebay Motors and up popped this beautiful Black Z71 Crew Cab Silverado…why I’m not sure? I had been looking for one in the Augusta, Ga. vicinity and online in the Atlanta area, but to no avail.

This had to be fate!!! I inquired via the internet and Mike Tallman picked up the phone and gave me a call. All of the other dealers had given me the same line…. $3,000 off list. Mike told me he was going to earn my business long distance and started laundry listing Hare’s incentives and then to top it off, asked if I owned a Pontiac…something the other dealers had never mentioned! As loyal GM supporters we happen to own a 1968 Firebird Convertible and that earned us an additional discount.

We agreed on the final price, a charge for shipping it to Georgia, and it was delivered on Thursday evening. The truck received a bath in our driveway today and is currently tucked neatly in our garage. I grew up in the Noblesville area until I was 13 when my Father who worked for Eli Lilly and Company was transferred to Atlanta, Ga in 1967. But, I remember as a child driving past Hare Chevrolet when my mother would take us to our Dentist, Dr. Guinn, in Noblesville. Who knew one day I would be buying my “first” pickup truck from my hometown? Thank you, Mike, for showing me some “Northern Hospitality”. Our son will be looking for a pickup real soon and our daughter will be looking for another Tahoe down the road…so keep in touch!

This is only one example in a line long of Happy Hare Chevrolet Customers. Check out our third party reviews like the one Mr. Lake left above at Dealer Rater or experience Hare Chevrolet by visiting us below.

Equinox in stock in Indianapolis area

February 26th, 2010

The development team for the Chevrolet Equinox carefully thought out every aspect of the vehicle to create a compact crossover that is resonating with national critics and customers all across Indiana.

The team pushed for segment-leading fuel efficiency, more comfortable seats, a quiet cabin and plenty of functional storage space. An episode of “Oprah” even inspired the team to make sure a rear-vision camera was an available safety feature.

The attention to detail is paying off. Equinox was a finalist for the North American Truck of the Year. U.S. sales for Equinox in January were up 76 percent compared to the same month a year ago.

With the attention to detail and national awards garnering the Equinox so much attention there has been one drawback; it is hard to find stock of the vehicle. There is great news for anyone looking to buy an Equinox in the Indianapolis area however. Hare Chevrolet sells and stocks more Chevrolet Equinox than anyone else in Indianapolis!

If you live in the Indianapolis area and what to see the Chevy Equinox in the “flesh” stop by Hare or schedule a test drive by calling 888-857-3785. For more on how the Equinox was developed, check out this Faces of GM profile on Whitney Krause, Assistant Program Manager for Chevrolet Equinox.

Getting Pre-Approved: Tips From Hare Chevrolet

February 26th, 2010

Ever have an Indianapolis Chevrolet dealer ask what you can afford to spend when you’re looking for a new or used Chevrolet? What’s your price range? Many consider what they can afford to pay per month, but don’t look into how much they are qualified to borrow. When you compare Chevrolet Impala dealership sticker prices or lease agreements, do you know what your credit rating is or how it affects the process of getting that next vehicle? Could you borrow a bit more than you realized and adjust your budget or payment terms accordingly?

It’s too easy to assume your credit rating is lower than it actually is, or that a few mistakes in the past might hurt your chances for getting a decent auto loan, but don’t count yourself out without getting pre-approved for a loan amount. Pre-approval means two things. The first is that you’ll know exactly what you can afford to buy based on the line of credit you’re offered. It also means that if you do have a credit issue, you can work out lending terms during the pre-approval process with the Indianapolis Chevrolet dealer and still be considered for a new or used car loan in many cases. Just because you’ve had issues in the past doesn’t necessarily make you a bad risk today. Don’t rule out getting into a reliable car; let the pre-approval process help you determine exactly what your buying power is.

Indianapolis area car dealer stocks award winning vehicles

February 23rd, 2010
Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com recognized three Hare Chevrolet vehicles as their 2010 Top 10 Family Cars, including Equinox, Suburban and Traverse.

All 3 of these models are carried by your Indianapolis area Chevrolet dealer, Hare Chevrolet.

The list represents the kbb.com editors’ recommendations for the best vehicles for families in Indiana, based on factors such as resale value, fuel efficiency, capability and kid-friendliness.

“We have built our reputation on family values,” stated Monica Peck, VP and 6th generation co-owner of Hare Chevrolet “for these vehicles to win family based awards means alot to us.”

“The factors Kelley Blue Book editors consider are in line with what we believe appeals to modern families who consider Chevrolet vehicles,” says Jim Campbell, Chevrolet General Manager. “As such, it’s no coincidence that Equinox, Traverse, and Suburban assembly plants are all running overtime to keep up with customer demand.”

Courtney Cole, VP and co-owner of Hare Chevrolet, seconded Mr. Campbell’s remarks, “We have had overwhelming reaction to all 3 of these vehicles. Since we are the number one Chevrolet dealer in Indiana it allows us to have more stock on these vehicles than most other Chevrolet dealerships in Indianapolis.”

Here’s what Kellley Blue Book’s kbb.com editors had to say about 3 of the vehicles in the Hare Chevrolet line-up:

2010 Chevrolet Traverse Indiana

Boasting more cargo volume than even its Chevy Tahoe stablemate, the Traverse is the biggest crossover on the road — yet it beats the fuel economy of many smaller three-row vehicles. We like both of the Traverse’s siblings — the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia — but the Chevrolet’s lower starting price makes it our choice for families.

2010 Chevy Suburban Indiana

Even when carrying nine passengers, the Chevy Suburban still offers a cavernous 45.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Still not enough? Hook up a trailer and the Suburban can tow up to 9,600 pounds. Beyond sheer size and strength, the Suburban delivers a comfortable ride and plenty of occupant-coddling niceties.

2010 Chevrolet Equinox Indiana

In the highly populated crossover category, the Chevy Equinox stands out from the crowd as a vehicle that competently embodies function and form. In addition to an upscale interior and bold exterior styling, the Equinox is also able to achieve a class-leading 32 mpg on the highway (in four-cylinder form).

Click on the links below to see Equinox Program Manager Whitney Krause highlighting some of the features that help make the Equinox one of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com 2010 Top Ten Family Cars.

If you would like to schedule a test drive of these 3 vehicles, or any other vehicle Hare Chevrolet stocks, please visit our virtual showroom at www.hareauto.com call 888-857-3785 or get directions to our showroom by clicking on this link, directions to Hare Chevrolet .

Car Financing Tips from Hare Chevrolet

February 23rd, 2010

Car transactions are as diverse as the market. If you’re interested in buying a Chevrolet Impala, for example, you might choose to lease, buy new or look for a recently used model. In the same way good car buyers take a close look at the cars available from Indianapolis Chevrolet dealers, you should also consider your financing options just as carefully. Banks may offer similar financing terms, but you shouldn’t accept the first interest rate you get. When shopping for cars in the Indianapolis market, try some comparison shopping for interest rates and terms the same way you shop for the car itself.

You may rely on your current bank for an auto loan, but when was the last time you compared financing terms? Find out what terms are available from Hare Chevrolet—can your bank offer the same deal? You’ll discover more competitive interest rates through comparison shopping—or at least find someone willing to work with you to get better terms. The right deal on interest rates, down payments or the length of the loan could give you some room in your monthly car budget. You should also compare the interest rates for buying to the terms of a Chevrolet Impala lease. Which is better? You might be surprised, depending on your needs and driving habits.

When comparing terms, be sure to check three important areas—the interest rate, the length of the loan or lease agreement, and the size of your down payment. Larger down payments mean lower monthly payments for car purchases, and a shorter loan means less paid in interest. Any savings you can find will help your car budget. Could you get more car for your money with more competitive terms?
